A Trip To Howick Historical Village
Last Friday I went with my class and my teacher to Howick Historical Village. We made butter in a churn. We put cream in the churn and we turned the handle. We sang a song and everybody had a turn. We put it on a cracker and ate it with the butter. Then we played parlour games called "Pass The Ring".

Carey Park Camp 2016
On Monday 17th October, the Senior syndicate went to camp. The location was in Carey Park, in West Auckland. We stayed at Carey Park for three days and two nights. My favourite activity was archery and air rifle. This activity was split into boys and girls. We did the archery first, and the girls did the air rifles. Mr Oliver taught us the safety rules first. Two of the safety rules were when you have finished shooting three arrows put your bow down and before you go grab three arrows you need to wait until Mr. Oliver says it is clear. When it was my turn I was afraid because I might injure someone or even kill. The good news was nobody got hurt or killed.

Camp Fun Camp
Last week Monday the Year 5s and year 6s went to Carey Park in the western part of Auckland. We went there for camp, and we also had some teachers and parent helpers. We stayed there for three days. In those three days we did ten activities. They were all very fun. I personally think the flying fox was the best one, because it was the most stimulating. Kayaking, shooting, rogaining, and crate staking were very nice and fun, too.
We had lots of different cabin groups and activity groups. All the activity groups needed to be rotated around. The cabins looked very similar to a cottage, a modern cottage not the same as I thought before camp.
We ate many delicious foods, such as butter chicken, fish and salad, etc. When we went to the camp fire, we baked some marshmallows. They were so squishy and sweet.
After that, we went to the Burma Trail where you had to cover your eyes and go forward with three or four people in a team, following the rope. Then you went deep into the bush which was only full of darkness. If you lost the rope, and you couldn't see anything you would probably get lost. There was always some adult trying to scare you, but they didn't scare me anyway!
We went back to school on Wednesday and I really didn't want to go back to school.

Senior syndicate theme Animal Habitats
The Senior topic group have been looking at Biomes and Animal Habitats. The use of translated vocabulary lists has enabled Andy to complete his topic work to an excellent standard. We are very fortunate to have Korean and Chinese English Language Assistants, who translate for our ELLs. We would welcome any parental assistance to get these topic lists translated into other languages, for the benefit of our many other ELLs. English language acquisition is greatly enhanced by continued use of the first language.

Aesop's Fables
Whilst preparing their stage production of "The Pied Piper", the Middle syndicate have been looking at fables/myths/legends. The Middle topic group have been learning their grammar by completing activities related to Aesop's Fables. First they completed "The Fox And The Crow", prepared by the teacher. Then they were asked to make up activities for another fable. Have a look at Johan's excellent work. Well done, Johan.

Bobby shares his trip to Rainbow's End
In the holidays Tae Young and her Mum and my Dad and I went to Rainbow's End. First we went on the Fearfall. It was very scary but I was not too bad when I got off. I had a sore head.
The Bumper Boats were my favourite ride but I got wet!! I liked the Log Flume, too. Lastly I went to watch a cool 4D tv. I wore 3D glasses and I sat in a chair that can move. It feel like a earthquake and I hear pumping sound like a machine. It was quite scary but not very long. I enjoyed Rainbow's End a lot.

Paul shares his visit to the Korean Day celebration
Last Saturday Chan, Joshua, Jeremy and I went to the Korean Day. First we had our faces painted. After that we got a yellow and white cap and a Korean badge. We bought some Korean pancakes and ate some free rice cakes. The best activity was the face painting because it was fun. I had seven blue red black and white lines on my face and arms. What a great day! I think I had the face painting more than nine times. I drew ten more.
